    Eligibility
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Be a legal resident of Indiana
    • Not hold a lucrative public office or appointment under the government of the United States or the state of Indiana, though civil, school, city and town officials of Indiana may serve as Notaries with certain limitations
    • Not have been convicted of a crime for which the sentence exceeds six months of imprisonment
     

    Application and Bond Filing Procedures
    Call the NNA at 1-800-US NOTARY (1-800-876-6827) if you have any questions during this process.
    • Order your Complete Notary Supply Package (see "Become" and "Renew" links above) – which includes your State-required Notary Bond.*
    • Call 1-800-US NOTARY (1-800-876-6827) to confirm the details of your order.
    • We will IMMEDIATELY issue your Notary Bond according to the following guidelines:
      New Notaries: The effective date will be indicated as 30 days after your order date.
      Renewing Notaries: The effective date will match the date of your commission renewal.
    • We will mail your activated Notary Bond to you via First Class mail.
    • Submit your Notary application to the County Clerk WITH your NNA Notary Bond.
