Eligibility |
- United States citizen or alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence
- Illinois resident for at least 30 days or a resident of a qualifying bordering state who has been employed in Illinois for at least 30 days (currently, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri and Wisconsin offer mutual commission reciprocation, but Indiana does not)
- At least 18 years old
- Able to read and write English
- No felony convictions
- No revocation of a Notary commission in the past ten years

Application and Bond Filing Procedures |
Call the NNA at 1-800-US NOTARY (1-800-876-6827) if you have any questions during this process.- Order your Complete Notary Supply Package (see "Become" and "Renew" links above) – which includes your State-required Notary Bond.*
- Call 1-800-US NOTARY (1-800-876-6827) to confirm the details of your order.
- We will IMMEDIATELY issue your Notary Bond according to the following guidelines:
New Notaries: The effective date will be indicated as 30 days after your order date. Renewing Notaries: The effective date will match the date of your commission renewal. - We will mail your activated Notary Bond to you via First Class mail.
- Submit your Notary application to the County Clerk WITH your NNA Notary Bond.
