Filling out a request online for either a new or renewed Notary commission can be both convenient and time saving, and for a limited time it is now much less expensive in one state. Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler has announced that as of November 1, 2012 the online application fee for Colorado Notaries dropped from $10 to $1.
The application fee for submitting a hard copy application will remain at $50. State budget regulations require non-profit agencies such as the Office of the Secretary of State to regularly review their revenue and expenses, and make adjustments accordingly to maintain a proper balance.
Colorado has made these corrections before, reducing their Notary application fees in April of 2010 and raising them again in January of 2011. Fees will remain at the current level until further notice, but Secretary Gessler anticipates the reduction will remain in place through the end of the year.
