Notary Bulletin West Virginia Using New Expiration Notices By NNA Staff on February 01, 2010 in Notary News Notaries in West Virginia are now being notified of pending commission expirations by postcard — a move the Secretary of State’s office says will save on mailing costs. The postcards, which began going out in December of last year, inform a Notary that the commission is about to expire and provides information on how to renew. Each year, the state government sends out more than 6,000 notices to Notaries, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Notaries cannot legally notarize any documents in West Virginia unless a copy of their current seal is on file with the Secretary of State’s office and the Notary has received a commission certificate. The National Notary Association offers Notaries comprehensive service in renewing their commissions.
