(Chatsworth, CA) - The National Notary Association, the nation's professional organization representing 4.5 million Notaries, announced today that it has earned national accreditation of its educational curriculum. The endorsement, which follows a yearlong independent assessment of the NNA's Notary-training programs by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET), creates a new standard of professionalism for America's Notaries, as well as for the Association's quality educational programs.

As the nation's professional identity screeners for hundreds of sensitive transactions, from buying a home to seeking a power of attorney or obtaining an advanced healthcare directive, Notaries are in the unique position to prevent identity theft and document fraud. The five year accreditation - the longest granted by the U.S. Department of Education- provides a level of assurance to consumers that when sensitive documents are notarized by an NNA trained professional, the Notary handling the transaction has received the highest quality training available in the nation.

The accreditation applies to all Notary education services offered by the NNA, including live seminars and online training courses. The NNA's curriculum is designed for Notaries of all experience levels. Officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an accrediting authority for non-collegiate continuing education, ACCET evaluates centers of education throughout the United States using rigorous standards for quality.
