Summary

Mississippi now gives motorists the option of applying for a 4-year or new 8-year license to operate a motor vehicle. All Notaries should be aware that effective October 1, 2011, some Mississippi driver’s licenses presented as satisfactory evidence of identity may be valid for 8 years.

Amends Sections 63-1-5, 63-1-43, and 63-1-47 of the Mississippi Code.

Changes
  1. Permits a person applying for a driver’s license or a renewal license to apply for either a 4-year or 8-year license.
  2. Provides for fees for the new 8-year license.
