Risk Mitigation Webinar: Lessons All Servicers Can Learn From The National Mortgage Settlement

The National Notary Association Invites Risk Managers And Corporate Compliance Professionals To Participate To Increase Consumer Protections, Reduce Liability

As part of the National Mortgage Settlement, authorities have made it clear that proper training and supervision for Notary employees — an often overlooked and abused aspect in the foreclosure “robo-signing” process — is now essential to mitigating corporate risk and reducing legal and financial exposure. To help organizations comply with the Notary provisions of the Settlement, the National Notary Association will present a complimentary webinar, “Lessons All Servicers Can Learn From The Mortgage Settlement,” on April 18 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

The “robo-signing” crisis cost five of the nation’s largest mortgage servicers $25 billion due to improper signing, notarizing and handling of foreclosure documents. The webinar — which is being presented at no charge — offers the NNA’s guidance on preventing these problems, including:

  • How to avoid improper practices that lead to costly legal and financial penalties
  • Help fulfilling the Settlement’s training requirements for Notary-employees
  • How to maintain required records of all notarizations performed by employees
