The Plymouth Notch, Vermont, headquarters of the Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation — which educates the public about the legacy of our nation’s 30th President — is currently inaccessible and without power due to the massive flooding caused by Hurricane Irene this week.
According to the Foundation’s website, the site itself did not sustain significant damage. For years the National Notary Association and the National Notary Foundation have supported the CCMF.
The last time Vermont experienced crippling floods was in 1927, during Coolidge’s Presidency. Coolidge eventually toured his devastated home state to see the damage with his own eyes and delivered his famous “Vermont Is A State I Love” speech.
