OHIO With real estate values dropping around the nation, Notaries are lending a helping hand to homeowners seeking to lower their property taxes and bring them in line with the true value of their homes.
That trend was demonstrated recently in Lucas County, Ohio, where County Auditor Anita Lopez faced an unprecedented spike in property tax appeals and a rapidly approaching deadline to have the audits filed.
She sent her staff including 16 Notaries into specific neighborhoods to help property owners cut through the red tape, complete the paperwork, perform on-the-spot notarizations and file their appeals by the deadline.
