  • Resident of Maine or resident of adjacent state and be regularly employed or
    conduct a trade or business in Maine
  • Demonstrated proficiency with English language
  • Not convicted of crime punishable by imprisonment of one year or more, or of lesser offense incompatible with duties of a Notary during 10 years preceding date of
    application for new/renewed commission
  • Not had a Notary commission revoked for official misconduct in Maine or any other
    jurisdiction in five years preceding date of application

Obtain Your State-Specific Seal and Recommended Supplies

The NNA will provide everything you need to become a Notary in Maine, including a state-recommended seal stamp, journal and supplies.

Complete Your Maine Notary Application

To become a Notary in Maine, you must follow the directions and fully complete the application on the Maine Secretary of State website. Print and sign your name exactly as you would like your commission to be issued.

3.

Become a Maine Notary Public

To complete the process of becoming a Maine Notary, fax a copy of your Commission Certificate that you received from the state to 1-800-833-1211 in order to receive your official seal or send a copy to National Notary Association, Notary Seal Processing, 9350 De Soto Avenue, Chatsworth, CA 91311-4926.
